My assignments will be posted below.
I stared the Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 training videos. I got through Opening an Image from Photoshop or Bridge, Opening an Image in Camera Raw, Closing one Image, or all at once, Navigating your image, Zooming in and out, and Using the more Precise Zoom tool. I also used camera raw to change this picture. (Blue to Brown)
I worked with the Photoshop Fundamentals CC 2015 training videos. I did Zooming Continuously, Entering a custom zoom value, Scrolling (aka panning), A few top-secret scrolling tricks, Switching between open images and Rotating and resetting the view. I am having a little trouble getting Camera raw to edit the photos but I will work on that tomorrow.
I also played around with the tools on Adobe Photoshop CC 2015. I went back and had to watch one of the first videos to figure out how to get to Camera Raw but I figured it out. So I edited a photo of a woman I got of off google.
I also worked on my Lynda.com lesson videos, Cycling between screen modes, Using the navigator panel, Panels and workspaces, Updating a workspace, A few very important preferences, Reassigning Spotlight, and Digital Imaging Fundamentals. I worked on editing a photo of a model I found. Also I found a photo on pinterest of a child that i edited a little.
Then I started back onto the Photoshop lesson videos. I worked on lesson 3 which focuses on Image Size and Resolution
I started with this photo and started working on the downsampling for print. So I went to the image size setting and started to shape it.
I changed the width to 12.8 in which zooms the image in and distorts it so I changed the resolution to 360, for the pixel count.
This setting is supposed to smooth out all of the edges and make it look less “gummy.”
While following the Photoshop CC 2015 One-on-One lessons, I worked on lesson 4 which is outlined around Crop and Straightening.
I started by learning the crop tool. I started with this photo I found on found Pinterest.
I changed the ratio from neutral to 4 : 5 (8 : 10)
I cropped out the section I thought weren’t necessary for the main focus of the photo (from my point of view) I wanted it to be closer to the rainbow color in her eye.
I was also making sure I knew how to rotate for future knowledge. All you do is just click and hold on the outside portion outside of the checked (chosen) box.
I finished by cropping it to where you can actually see the color change from the reflection in her eye.
I have started in on lesson five Photoshop videos on Lynda.com which is titled Introducing Layers.
You first have to unlock the flat background (because flat photos cannot be layers) so you can create an independent moveable layer.
You double click anywhere on the background box, in which a new layer box. So you can change the name of the layer.
So then you can move the independent movable layer around the screen in which the checkered background shows.
I did get done was a few videos in lesson five.
At first I started with this photo I worked on yesterday, I was trying to make it a black and white photo.
All I did was go to the layer menu and so to New Adjustment Layer and there I could go to Channel Mixer. That is where I changed the red and green layer to zero.
To make it a partial silhouette photo I went back to the Layer menu and right back to New Adjustment Layer but this time I went to Brightness/Contrast and changed the brightness to fifty and the contrast to fifty as well.
Today I worked on lesson videos from lesson five on the Photoshop Fundamental. It focused on getting my horse to be a complete black silhouette.
I first started by creating a new layer so I could do my brushwork on. After that I used the brush tool to fill in all of the white spots on the already mostly black horse.
I also started working on adding the wing layer so the horse becomes a pegasus. I used the method that is just going to the image, on photoshop, and copying then going back to the horse silhouette and pasting.
I only got a few videos lessons finished.
First I needed to expand the canvas to fit the wings in the right spot. So all I did was go to the crop tool and expanded 1894 pixels.
Then I changed the checkered into all white by going to the layer menu and selecting New Adjustment Layer and Brightness/Contrast.
Also I had to changed the background of the crane layer to all white ti match the silhouette layer, and I also got rid of the crane background completely by making a demo layer and changed the color on it.
Then I had to paint over the crane feet and extra wing. I made a new layer (multiple times) called paint away away painted over it used the brush tool, then I used the eraser tool to smooth out the lines.
I have been working on trying to get lesson five done on the Photoshop video lessons, and i finally got it and I’m sooo proud. (keep in mind that I have had to redo almost half of this photo at least 20 times)
I started today with the work I got finished a few days ago.
I had to add another layer with the wings in it because I was trying to make the second wing. So I clicked on the wing #1 layer and clicked and held while clicking the alt button to copy it.
Then I needed to rotate the new coped layer to where the wing was supposed to be lined up at. I went to the Edit menu and chose the Free Transform and rotated it -118.00 degrees left.
I finished by making the “elbow” for the second wing. I went up to the Window menu and chose the Path setting and the elbow path was already for me to add. I added the elbow and filled it in with black by clicking shift delete and chose background color and so it would be black.
Today I worked on my T-shirt, I changed the quote on the front.
I started out with this animation of marching band members in a silhouette photo. I expanded the canvas to make my space larger. Then added a text box.
I downloaded the font Universal College and used that to go with the “school” theme.
Today I worked on lesson 6, which deals with Saving your Progress.
I had this image and I was saving just this layer (as you can note that there are numerous layers for this specific photo)
I went up to the file menu and picked Save as and this popped up. I changed the name to Prepress cover and changed format from Photoshop to TIFF. Then turned off layers and turned on As a Copy and hit save. Then I had to change the image compression from None to LZW.
I worked on the end of lesson six on the Lynda.com Photoshop videos.
Saving an interactive image to PNG
I went to the channels panel and clicked the circle at the bottom, that selected the background, so I went to the Select menu and picked inverse, because I only needed the pegasus to be chosen.
Then I went back to the layers panel and picked the top one (rear wing) then went to the Layers menu and chose New Fill Layer and chose Gradient. I created a new layer called Fountain. I changed the color from black and white to blue, red, and yellow. Changed the Linear style to Radial and clicked on the Reverse option.
Then I went to the Select menu and chose All Layers and then command clicked on the Fountain layer, and hit the delete button and deleted all layers but Fountain and Background. I then deleted the Background layer so it leaves a checkered background which is also a transparent background.
I opened the file I just saved and so it is a layer itself called Layer 0 in a different front.
Saving an interactive image to JPEG
I went to the File menu and chose Save As and changed the format to JPEG and then on JPEG Options I left the default settings on.
I worked on a poster today (probably not the right size) and first I took a piece of sheet music and cropped out the Violin 1 at the top.
I then took a silhouette of a trumpet and copied it onto the music and then used the select tool and selected the trumpet, hit command T and made the horn to the size of my liking.
I then wanted to add a frame to it and so I copied one onto it and changed the normal setting to the multiply setting to get rid of the white and selected it again and made it to the size of the background.
I wanted to add some depth to it so I added a french horn to the bottom right hand corner and I set the opacity setting from 100% to 40%, I did the same to a trombone, saxophone, and flute.
Trombone is on the left hand side in the middle.
The saxophone I placed right next to the trombone, just a little bit.
The flute is in the top right hand corner but it’s hard to see so I remove it or just move.
I worked on lesson on seven today that has to do with Brightness and Contrast.
I selected the auto tone layer and then went to the Image menu and selected the auto tone tool.
I turned the auto tone layer off and chose the auto contrast layer and then went back to the Image menu and chose auto contrast.
I then turned the auto contrast layer off and selected the auto color layer and again went back to the image menu and chose auto color and in this feature finds the darkest pixels and make a neutral black, finds the brightest pixels and makes it a neutral white, and a representative mid-tone pixel and make it a neutral gray.
I turned the auto color layer off and selected the auto B/C and then went to the Image menu and chose the Adjustments option and then Brightness/Contrast and clicked the Auto bottom.

I started by going to the Window menu and selected Adjustments and then I picked the Brightness/Contrast option and it created a new layer called Brightness/Contrast Layer 1.
Then the Brightness/Contrast window posed up and I clicked auto which changed brightness to -20 and contrast to 87. And then I changed that to -60 and 70.
